40 years ago, Sanoflore set up its experimental garden on the southern slopes of the Vercors to grow aromatic and medicinal plants and extract the purest essential oils. This requirement soon led the company to adopt organic farming methods. The production site now houses an experimental farm and a botanical garden with a collection of 350 varieties of plants used by the laboratory. The walk (a good half-hour) takes you through 9 themed gardens along a pretty stream. It begins with the Mediterranean Garden (Aleppo pine, cork oak, palms, cacti, citrus... ), then passes through the Allée des Simples (lemon balm, borage, milk thistle...) and the Plantes Médicinales. Further on, La Montagne de Lavande (fine, real lavender) undulates in the wind, right next to the Damiers des Aromates. Each plant and tree is labelled and described.
