Beauregard-Baret

Until 1950, the commune of Beauregard was the amalgamation of 4 former parishes: Beauregard, Jaillans, Meymans and Crispallot. The effective center of the community was Meymans, the largest village.

Beauregard-Baret is a district located in a rural area to the north of the urban area of Romans/Bourg-de-Péage at the foot of the Monts du Matin mountains. It comprises two villages: Beauregard-Baret and Meymans. The district has numerous waymarked footpaths.
The geological character of the Monts du Matin, their exposure and their situation at a climatic crossroads constitute the perfect conditions for the presence of abundant, highly diverse flora. Here, martagon lilies, daffodils, white gentians, astrantia major, poisonous aconites and spring snowflakes grow alongside about thirty species of orchid. Of all those species, the most remarkable is the Drôme orchid or "Mirror of Venus", which is unique in France.

Sights to see:

Sainte-Anne Church in Meymans: In the Middle Ages this belonged to the neighbouring Priory of Jaillans. The modern gateway leads to a heavily modified nave. Beyond this, however, the church has retained its Romanesque parts. The church tower, built on top of the vault is of a surprising height. It is arranged in five levels separated by thick beading.
From D 125 there are remarkable views over the village of Beauregard-Baret below, at the heart of an amphitheatre of green mountainsides topped off with sheer rockfaces.
