Bourg-lès-Valence offers different neighborhoods, all of which are tiered from the Rhône to the plateau. The Rhône, with its banks for pedestrians and the Via Rhôna for cyclists, is ideal for walks and strolls.
From ancient times, the river port favored a commercial boom that attracted a hard-working population. Saint-Pierre church played an important religious role. The first factories gave rise to a major industrial boom, with a textile mill later transformed into a cartridge factory. In the 1960s, the boom in communications and housing transformed the small town into the fourth-largest in the département.
