Circuit centre ville Loriol
Pedestrian sports, CourseThe proposed route will enable you to discover or rediscover Loriol. A walk with your nose in the air, in search of the vestiges of yesteryear: mullioned windows, stone frames, braces, coats of arms...
Along the way, street signs will remind visitors that illustrious figures were born or lived here: Barthélemy Faujas de Saint Fond, geologist and revolutionary, Guy Blancard, deputy to the Constituent Assembly, buried in Loriol, Abbé Louis Moutier, félibre and poet of the Rhône, Etienne-Martin, sculptor... From the Grande Fontaine to the Motte du Château, from the Place de l'Eglise to the Place du Temple, from the Rue Saint Romain to the Impasse de l'Étrangle Chat, from passageways to alleyways, far from overcrowded tourist sites, Loriol offers the simple pleasure of strolling in the footsteps of the past in the cool calm of its old walls.
Aware of the richness of its historical and architectural heritage, the commune has carried out a number of studies to highlight the most remarkable features of the old town. Work is now underway to restore and enhance the various sites. Work began on the Motte du Château overlooking Loriol. Stones salvaged from the site were used to rebuild low walls. All access roads leading from the town center to the château were also restored.
