The Saint-Moirans gorges will surprise you with their precariously balanced rocks. You'll see the Trois Becs massif in its entirety: from left to right, Le Veyou, Le Signal and La Pelle.

Start: Car park in the gorges de St Moirans, 3 km after the junction with the D156, at a quarry. Start out on a path on the left, marked by a signpost. Descend to the stream, ford it. On the other side, the path goes to the right, uphill through undergrowth, skirting a ravine: cross it twice and the climb becomes steeper. After 45 minutes, near the Col d'Espenel, the path continues to the right (shared with the 136) up the mountainside. After a slight descent (10-15 minutes), you come to a forest track, which you follow. Shortcut via the forest track that leads to Chastel-Arnaud in 1 hour. Loop 85 continues on the track, leaving it shortly afterwards to climb to the left and then immediately to the right. More twists and turns; as you approach the crests, you come to a forest track, which you follow (lookout point on right). Under the Col du Perrier (or Poirier), take the GR to the right to descend. You'll arrive in the St Moirans gorges, and take the road towards Saillans to return to the parking lot.
