Follow the woods and the water
Pedestrian sports, Hiking itineraryA small village flourishes around an imposing abbey. Starting from the old town center, let yourself be guided along the stony paths that border the vineyards, to the green groves from which the name Bouchet derives.
Start in the car park near the Mairie (the town hall) in the Cours des Lavandières.
Take the street that goes uphill on the right, the Rue des Côtes du Rhône (D 441), and walk 50 yards to the Place de l’Abbaye on your left. Pass the fountain, the Cistercian abbey, and the church called the Église Notre Dame du Bosquet. Walk beneath the church porch and back to the D141 on the left, then turn immediately right and along to the Rue du Coudair. Turn left (yellow waymarking).
Carry straight on, all the way along the Rue des Fontaines to the Chemin des Sablières. Opposite the Chemin de la Blache, take the stony track on the left.
Carry on to the lavoir (communal laundry or wash-house). That done, turn around, backtrack and turn left to continue along the Chemin des Sablières, over the little bridge above the waters of the Grand Vallat stream, until you reach the entrance to the Le Bois des Roches campsite.
At the entrance, take the track on the right towards the vines. Carry straight on, following the yellow waymarking until you reach the information panel showing the waymarked routes. But don't follow the yellow waymarking after this; instead, carry straight on through the vines. There is a fine open view towards Mont Ventoux, the Lance mountain and the Trois Becs. To the right, there is a view towards the Dentelles de Montmirail mountains.
Turn right and go all the way along the Chemin Le Grand Bosquet and then the Chemin des Esperants. Turn right onto the Chemin des Aires and follow the yellow waymarking again. Carry straight on and along the D141 to return to the village.
Crossing over the Rue du Coudair, continue along the Rue de Provence. Take the second on the left to return to the car park.
