Glandasse Mountain Protected Natural Site
La Montagne de Glandasse is a protected natural site at the southern tip of the Vercors mountain range, on Laval d'Aix village locality. It is spread out over 375 hectares to the West of 'Pié Ferré' summit, the highest point (2041m) of the Glandasse Massif.
The site is property of la Drôme Département, a part of and managed by the High Plateau of Vercors Nature Reserve.
Located to the South of Col de Rousset, it has a distinctive Mediterranean quality, However, because of a significant difference in height (from 900 m to over 2000 m), its alpine character is undeniable. This makes for a remarquable diversity of landscapes.
Imposing limestone cliffs, forming an almost impenetrable wall surround high altitude grasslands, scattered with outcrops, limestone pavements and forests sparsely populated with indigenous mountain pines.
