The Maison du Mouton is one of the oldest civil buildings in Romans. Erected in the early years of the 14th century, it is located in the heart of the medieval town, within the first 12th-century city walls.
It probably belonged to a wealthy cloth merchant, who was prospering in Romans at the time.
The name "Maison du Mouton" probably derives from a sheep's head carved into the façade.
After its purchase by the city in 2020, the Maison du Mouton will be home to the Maison du Patrimoine (Heritage House) from autumn 2024.
