The knights of the time (Dragons) used to take it with their gear, their load, to reach the camp above the church. The Four Banal was the place where the city's breads and caillettes were baked in exchange for a tourist tax.
The "Montée du BARDA", so named according to tradition because of the dragoons who used to pass through here with their gear on their way to their billets, is a covered, stepped road that retains the picturesque charm of Chabeuil's old streets. To the left, at the bottom of the street, you'll see the "Place du Four Banal", where local residents used to bake their bread and quaillettes.
