Le Poët-Célard

Le Poët-Célard
26460 Le Poët-Célard

Small Drôme village par excellence, the Poët-Celard is reached by a road that dominates the valley of Roubion. Afterwards, you must quickly leave your car for a walk in the medieval streets that rise to the beautifully restored castle.

From the 13th century to the present day, this place is full of stories often linked to wars of religion and the shadow of the great Calvin, who would have stayed there, is not the only one watching over the fortress. From above, and in front of this admirable panorama, we would soon forget that we are in the 21st century! From the Roubion, the road climbs steeply to Poët-Célard. Up there on the esplanade, an imposing castle - 16th and 17th centuries - overlooks the village built in a semicircle on the southern slope. Since 1985, the Poët-Célard has been rehabilitated and today, going up to the gate of the castle by the old paved path restored, we let ourselves be charmed to lose the notion of time ...
