Le Temple
26400 Beaufort-sur-Gervanne

The Beaufort temple dates from 1849. Its high west-east façade stands on the banks of the Gervanne. Inside, a fresco painted in 1951 by Swiss artists depicts Pentecost.

A symbol of a community united by hardship, the Beaufort temple is the largest in the valley and dates back to 1849. Ruined in 1944, it has since been rebuilt. Inside, a 50m² fresco depicts Pentecost. Created in 1951-1952 by three young Swiss artists: Francis Roulin, son of a Beaufort pastor, Jean François Favre and Luc Monnier. This collective work bears witness to the solidarity expressed during the reconstruction of the village.
