Here you are on the banks of the Isère. The Isère. It's the river that gives the town its distinctive shape, and partly defines its boundaries.
In days gone by, there were many fishermen and their boats on the river. There were also many floods that could inundate the lower part of the town. Since then, like many rivers, it has been dammed up. Dams have been built to regulate its flow.
Safe pedestrian walkways, a cycle path, landscaping, children's play areas, observation pontoons: in 2008, these two kilometers of quays underwent major development work. Since then, the riverbanks have become a favorite spot for Peage residents, who come to stroll, relax or simply watch the swans and ducks splashing about peacefully on the Isère.
Jogging, family outings, walking, skateboarding or cycling... any excuse is a good one to enjoy the banks and stroll along the water.
