The Premier-Henry family, famous for their absinthe production, left two remarkable buildings: the Château Premier, now the Lycée Saint Maurice, and the Château Henry, at the entrance to the Chemin des Boeufs.
At the end of the 19th century, Louis-Philippe Premier and Charles Henry used their wealth to build two sumptuous châteaux, a testament to their immense industrial success and superior social status.
Absinthe drives those who drink it mad, and those who sell it rich!
In 1915, the manufacture of absinthe was banned in France, and Louis Philippe Premier's grandsons, Louis Premier and Marcel Henry, turned to the manufacture of aniseed-flavored drinks.
Finally, the Premier company closed down for good at the end of the 1950s.
