Sanctuaire Saint Joseph
Phone04 75 98 54 24
The Sanctuaire Saint Joseph is a magnificent late 19th-century chapel built at the top of the hill overlooking the village of Roussas and close to its château. A short footpath leads from the village.
Its massive silhouette dominates the landscape. Built by parish priest Garnier between 1875 and 1902, this large Saint Joseph's chapel features a facade missing the slender bell tower.
The neo-Gothic façade is in white Saint Restitut stone. The statue of Saint Joseph stands at the very top.
Schools were established as early as 1875. They would later become the Séminaire des Vocations Tardives.
Inside, stained glass windows illustrate the life of Saint Joseph and the Holy Family.
You'll also find one of the last pneumatic organs.
The Sanctuary hosts numerous ceremonies, including the Pilgrimage of its Patron Saint.
