Sur les Chemins de la Clairette - Entre vignes et Cabanons
Pedestrian sports, CourseThe most remarkable feature of the Châtillon-en-Diois vineyards, which stretch out on a sunny piedmont at the western entrance to the village, is certainly the number of cabanons scattered throughout the vineyards.
From the Domaine du Maupas cellar parking lot, drive up the D539 towards Châtillon. Take the first road on the left. It passes two sheds. Shortly after the second, turn right onto the small road that winds through the fields. When the road bends to the right, turn left onto the carriage road which, backed by a stone wall, climbs quietly over a walnut grove. After a bend to the left, the track joins a small road, which you take to the left. This takes you back to the vineyards and their picturesque sheds, once used to store tools, shelter a beast of burden and collect rainwater for vine treatments. You alternate between asphalt and gravel until you pass an oak hedge. At a crossroads near a shed, take the slightly uphill road ahead. You'll come to the edge of the Serre du Poët near the Jaillance cabin. Take a round trip up this pine-forested eminence to enjoy a sweeping view over the entire vineyard. Return to the cabanon and head west on the path that winds its way through the vines to the crests of the Montagne d'Aucelon. Just before crossing a stream that often runs dry, turn left down a track that runs alongside a vineyard and then crops, reaching a track suitable for vehicles. Turn left. Pass four sheds, and on the right you'll find a track leading back to the parking lot.
