Sur les Chemins de la Clairette - La vigne et l'Histoire
Pedestrian sports, CourseAt the foot of the imposing Montagne de Glandasse, you'll pass vineyards offering harmonious views of the mountains, before returning to the town to admire the ramparts of the ancient Gallo-Roman city.
Head north up the rue des jardins. Just past the tourist office, you pass a semicircular tower from the ancient city walls. After passing under the viaduct, you come to the Porte Saint Marcel, the only surviving ancient monument in the Drôme department. Continue in the same direction, climbing up the montée des usines. After the Girard cellar, turn right towards Les Fondeaux. A pleasant little road takes you alongside a canal in a pretty neighborhood that alternates residences and a few crops, including vines. After 1.2 km, the small road turns left at a right angle and begins to climb. When you reach the highest part of the road, you're back in the vineyards. At the crossroads, turn left to return to the town. At the top of the ramparts, turn left to follow the ramparts downhill, passing the medieval Sainte Agathe tower and then the Roman aqueduct that brought water from the Glandasse mountains to the town.
To do more (+10mn): You can extend your discovery of the town by turning right at the top of the ramparts. The old road runs steeply down the wall, past ancient and medieval towers and an impressive pile of Roman boulders. Pass the hospital to reach the Saint Pierre district. Just before the viaduct, on the left, you'll find the alleyway leading to the Porte Saint Marcel, just a few kilometers from the start of your walk.
