Taulignan
This beautiful medieval city was built between the 10th and 15th century. 11 towers from the original city wall are still up. Around the town center you can admire a Norman chapel (Saint Michel) and a Protestant temple (with a rotunda form).
The 13th-15th century fortified town lived around its castle (destroyed in 1793), sheltered by fortifications that still mark the medieval landscape.
Eleven of the fourteen towers that defended the walls have been preserved, as has the north gate, or Porte d'Anguille, flanked by two towers linked by a gallery with machicolations.
The village boasts numerous Renaissance facades and 17th- and 18th-century homes.
The "Marché de Noël Médiéval" takes place in Taulignan every year. From 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., numerous exhibitors and craftsmen line the streets of the village, along with a variety of entertainment: Christmas Market Orchestra, pony and donkey rides with Taulign'ânes, Ferme en vadrouille, Troupe Médiévale, Toupie manège...
