Potters, sculptors, painters will give you a rendez-vous in their workshops and studios in the Drôme valley and Drôme Provençale. This route may have the effect of revealing the artist in you. (140 km)
Unmissable : Crest (Tower and old town), Forêt de Saoû and the remarkable road through the Pas de Lauzun, two villages listed as amongst France’s finest: le Poët-Laval (old restored village), keep belonging to the ‘ancienne commanderie de Malte’ [Knights Hospitalers], ‘Musée du protestantisme dauphinois’ and arts and crafts) and Mirmande (art galleries and artisans, exhibitions in the medieval church. Dieulefit - Maison de la Terre, potters, a maze of little streets in the ‘quartier de la viale’. Cliousclat, attractive little pottery village.
The + of this circuit : lavander(in flower from mid-June to mid-July). Soyans, Romanesque church and witches garden. Romanesque churches and pretty little roads: Pont-de-Barret, Eyzahut, Montbrison. Taulignan (fortified walls and ‘Musée de la soie’ [silk]), Châteauneuf-de-Mazenc. St Felix’s priory at Marsanne, forest and adventure course. 15th century belfry at Grâne. Chabrillan, hilltop village.
